More and more often, the best holiday flight does not depart from Poznań. A cheap charter to Greece leaves from Katowice, a good promotional fare from Warsaw, and a weekend in a warmer climate is easier to catch from Berlin. That raises the question that can spoil the whole plan: how do you get there with all your luggage?
Why a holiday flight often does not depart from Poznań
Route networks differ at every airport. Some charter destinations and budget airlines operate mainly from the larger hubs — Warsaw, Katowice or Berlin — and that is where the most attractive prices or convenient times are found. You choose a flight to suit the holiday, not the city of departure, so getting there has to be solved separately.
Train or coach with suitcases vs a door-to-terminal transfer
In theory you can reach another airport by train. In practice, with a family and holiday luggage, that means getting to the station, changing trains, dragging suitcases along platforms and then another journey from the station to the terminal. A transfer with a driver turns it into a single leg: you get in at your door and step out at the departures hall. No changes, no hauling, no watching the timetable.

For a more distant airport the time buffer is larger, because 2–3 hours of driving plus a margin for any hold-ups are added to the check-in time.
