A holiday charter has its own ritual: waking while it is still dark outside, coffee in a hurry and the question that comes back every year — 'what time do we actually have to leave?'. An early departure is the most common reason the journey to the airport turns tense. It does not have to be.
Why holiday flights depart so early
Morning departures are not the airlines being awkward — they are a result of how aircraft are used. One plane operates several flights during the day, so the first rotation has to set off at first light for the rest of the day to hold together. Add to that cheaper time slots and airport capacity. In practice this means one thing: departures at 6:00–7:00 in the morning are the norm in season, not the exception.
What time do you actually need to leave?
The departure time is always worked out backwards — from take-off, not from leaving the house. Here is an example for a flight from Poznań-Ławica:
- Take-off: 6:00
- At the airport: about 2 hours earlier, so by 4:00
- Journey to Ławica with a buffer: depending on the district, usually 20–40 minutes
- Car at your door: around 3:15–3:30
For a flight from another city — Warsaw, Katowice or Berlin — you leave even earlier, because 2–3 hours of driving are added to the time at the airport. A night transfer — what you do not have to do
The greatest value of an early-morning transfer is the list of things that disappear from it:
- You do not wake anyone in the family to ask for a lift at three in the morning.
- You do not book a taxi blind and check whether one will turn up at that hour or what the night rate will be.
- You do not drive your own car short of sleep and hunt for a parking space in the dark.
- You do not work out the time buffer in your head — it is planned for you.
Instead, at the set time a car is waiting at your door, ready to go, and you can still close your eyes for a while on the way to the airport.
At three in the morning what matters is not the price of the lift, but that someone is definitely there at your door.
How we make sure the car is at your door on time
We plan the early run the day before. By the evening you have a confirmation with the pickup time and driver details, the driver has a route with a time buffer, and the schedule is set so as to be at your address with time to spare rather than down to the minute. There is no traffic at that hour, but there are other variables — and those we take on ourselves.
And the return in the middle of the night?
Holiday flights can land at equally awkward times — well after midnight and often late. Yes, we run transfers at night and at dawn too. We plan such runs in advance, so for an early departure it is worth booking a few days ahead.
Is there a night surcharge as in a taxi?
We agree the price in advance and it is fixed. We have no meter that changes the rate depending on the hour or the traffic — you know the amount before the journey.
